Dear Fellow State Employee:

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to you today as the Chair of the 2007-2008 New Jersey State Employee Charitable Campaign (NJSECC). With your continued support and commitment to growth, this year promises to be a tremendous milestone.

Americans are no strangers to expressing generosity through the acts of giving and volunteering. For many of you, supporting charitable causes is something you already do. As New Jersey state public employees, we are committed and dedicated to making a positive difference in the communities where we live, work, and serve. As the incoming chair of 2007-2008, my goals for the upcoming year are both to increase the overall employee participation rate and the number of leadership donors.

Last year, approximately 11,000 State employees participated in the NJSECC, bringing in more than $2.05 million. Without diminishing the generosity of those who do participate, it is worth noting that our statewide participation rate is less than 8 percent; this year, I challenge you to help us reach the national average of 25%.

The NJSECC recognizes individuals who make an annual gift of $500 or more as leadership givers. The results of their generosity have been significant and rewarding. Perhaps more importantly, this support has proven instrumental in helping charities right here in our community, throughout the state and around the globe. Whatever your passion may be, we can help you reach your philanthropic goals. Please consider stepping up your contribution to the leadership level, which equates to less than $50 a month.

We are setting ambitious goals this year and with your help, we will provide unprecedented support to the more than 1,400 charities participating in this campaign. When you give, you automatically become part of the solution and help to create lasting changes in your communities. The success of the NJSECC can be attributed to a combination of strong leadership and generous donors; please join us this year!
